Sexually transmitted infections are on rise. There is a significant global resurgence—with health agencies like WHO reporting a record number of cases of STDs. Amongst the factors driving the surge :-

decreased condom use is on the top followed by the increasing dating apps, ease of multiple sexual partners acclerating transmission rates, and of course importantly a rise in antibiotic resistance.

Gonorrhea is the oldest and most commonest. A woman has a 50% chance of getting gonorrhea following intercourse with an infected men. While a men has around 20-21% of becoming infected. Men who seek treatment promptly are cured. Those who do not develop infections of urethra, Prostate, etc seminal vesicles.

In women symptom may be mild & go unnoticed.

Syphilitis, Urethritis esp Non specific, Genital Herpes, balanitis, TV are other examples apart from condyloma (Genital warts), Chancroid, AIDS.

Psychosocial Aspect: Most people are unwilling to admit that they have an STD – leading to delay seeking physician – harboring & exposing their sex partners to risk.Plus in women pelvic much more important complection.
